Not everything needs to be voiced, you could have text or let the commentary team get over what the promo is about. Or at the very least have backstage segments and promos. sigh) Well let me do that in Universe mode. Remember Shut Your Mouth where you could roam backstage? Or even Smackdown V Raw 2011 where you could do it in a more limited fashion? (which is now making me reminisce about the Christian storyline in the latter. The news doesn't really tell me anything, it just says "THE RIVALRY IS HEATING UP" and it needs to be more fleshed out Like if Brock beat up Cena so bad he needed to be stretchered out, let it happen and show me it. Obviously they'd need to fix the cutscenes a little so they make sense sometimes, but if an important story development is happening, show this even if the match is skipped. Show cutscenes when a match is skipped/booked Even pick an arena with boxes on the stage. Hell, since it's a single player mode, add run-ins to the pause menu and use them as a fun booking option. If I specify a run-in, don't have the same thing as now where the ref is knocked out immediately, you get a minute to beat someone up and then the match is thrown out. Maybe add TV ratings in as a measure of how well you're doing here. That would let you play out your own federation to see what happens. What if Universe mode let you pick the winners? Instead of just a sim button, have a "book match" button and pick the winner with how they do it (DQ, dirty move followed by pin, run in etc.). GM mode actually used to be in the game and while I thought it was very limited, some people enjoyed it. Have both booking mode and current random match winner mode

Still, I had high hopes that after a first stab, Universe mode would come into its own with subsequent iterations and while small improvements have been made, it's the one mode that needs the most fixing. They were broken and even though I had a lot of fun with the steel steps, it wasn't to last. Even with the graphical downgrade, I thought Universe and physics would save it and make the gameplay fun again, but I was wrong. Universe Mode came in Smackdown Vs Raw 2011 along with a new physics engine and much worse graphics that I thought was going to be a step forward for the franchise. Now that the gameplay impression out from IGN and reading how different it is is getting me cautiously hyped, I need the detail on the one thing that got me hyped the last time I bought a WWE game on release day: Universe Mode.
